I have never used Home Safe LLC/8008564414 but my last bank acccount was charged$69.00 . I want this acount canceled now. I don't know how I even got this account. Cancel now!
As someone who has been writing code for a living for more than 22 years, I can say with confidence this is the worst software experience I have even encountered. It's awful beyond belief.
If I'm being honest, the entire application feels like the result of a first year graduate developer. This in itself isn't a problem, even the first stuff I coded sucked. The problem is that someone at Swann looked at this and said "it's perfect - don't change a thing!" even though the quality is nowhere at an acceptable level for public use - in any country.
Let me be clear - this software should absolutely NOT have been released in this state. It's got a horrendous UX and UI reminiscent of the applications produced by developers without any UX experience back in the early 90's, right down to the comically awful clip art iconography as you can see in the screenshot above. Navigating the app is an exercise in frustration that will have you pulling your hair out . Probably the only thing worse is the Swann HomeSafe View Android app, but that's a story for another time.
Michael, I don't squat about software in's and outs, but I do know this. This software brings up my cameras everytime, on any device I install it on. I can watch my cameras from anywhere in the country, with nary a problem.
Homesafe View for PC has a major security flaw.
It places a file named RSNet.txt in the root of a secondary drive (Drive D and probably Drive C: if no secondary drive.
This file is in plain text and contains User, Password, IP, and Port.
The file can be read by anyone who has access to the drive.
I contacted the Swann but the support person was clueless and just said "So what is the problem I can help you with?"
This is the worst piece of crap. Don't bother. It will not record anything. If you look at it on the router it's gone as soon as you view it and the phone app will not even do playback. The whole system is a worthless piece of shit. So much for me buying this system to protect my family. 300 dollars wasted.
Anna, My camera's caught a tire dumper in the act, and I turned the video over to the EPA. The dumper was caught, and found guilty of two felonies. Mine work fine for me..
Constantly crashes, cannot access motion detection settings, next to useless. I have my system installed in a fairly secure place so rely on this app to configure my device. BUT, since it has been "improved" by a software "update" most of it no longer works. This will be the last product from this company I buy, I will seek out a more reliable supplier if that is possible.
